Demand for the new Xbox 360 Slim high in UK

On the heel of a great hardware month in the US, the Xbox 360 Slim model is selling quite well in the UK as well. According to early reports the Xbox 360 Slim is sold out in many retailers.

As expected, the release of the newly redesigned Xbox 360 with a 250GB hard drive gave the platform a boost for the month of June. NPD chart shows a solid boost for the system with 451k sold. The Wii followed closely behind with 422k and PS3 at 304k.

Overall all hardware platforms received a nice boost from May. Red Dead Redemption may have been one of the reasons for the hardware boost as well as the game took the top two spots for both the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Electronic Theatre has done its own search across the UK to gauge the demand for the new Xbox 360 Slim. According to the site many retailers are already sold out of the new model despite releasing this past Friday (July 16th).

Sales boost will most likely continue for another month before everything gets back to normal.
